A few things have changed since I last posted about this subject. I still believe that the Des Moines Sunday Register is the best newspaper to buy for the coupons. As you may know by now, unless you are a newbie, the price has gone up to $3.00 per paper. To make it worth the money to spend the $3.00, you may just want to begin with one paper and check to be sure there are at least $3.00 worth of coupons you're likely to use in there.
Kum and Go still does their Des Moines Register deal. It has changed, however, it will cost you 99c per paper on Sunday with a $20.00 gas purchase. Many Kum and Go's are opening around the area, so if you are hesitant to make multiple trips to one location for gas and newspapers, you can spread it around a little bit.

My 1/21 Marion Wal-Mart trip
I've been really slacking in the couponing department recently, but decided to get back on the ball today. All of the following deals were with insert coupons which you should be able to replicate at your Wal-Mart if you've been buying newspapers during 2012 thus far.
***THIS COUPON EXPIRES TODAY***
Colgate toothpaste in a green cardboard bin in the main aisle near health and beauty 94c each
I had a 75c/1 any Colgate toothpaste coupon which came in the 1/1 SS making them 19c per tube.
***THIS COUPON EXPIRES TODAY***
Colgate toothbrushes in that same green bin 94c each
I had 75c/1 any adult or child's Colgate toothbrush which came in the 1/1 SS making them 19c each. This coupon only came in the Register, not the Gazette.
Nabisco cookies and crackers in a "to go cup" located in the main aisle back near the toys in a wire bin $1.00 each
I had $2.00/3 any participating Nabisco snacks which came only in the Register within the past 2 weeks...not sure which...which made them 3 for $1.00.
Bic Cristal pens are 97c and Bic white out is $1.00.
Within the past 2 weeks, both the Gazette and the Register had $1.00/1 any Bic stationary item making the white out FREE and the pens a 3c MONEYMAKER.
KY Jelly is $2.84 for the plain, small tube. (they make good baby gifts with a thermometer???)
Within the past 2 weeks, both the Register and the Gazette had $3.00/1 any KY making these a 16c MONEYMAKER.
Christmas is 75% off. They really do have a nice assortment of stuff still left. I got 6 matching stocking (I'm tired of being mismatched) for $1.66 each and some tween-ager type make-up for a gift for my friend's daughter next year for $1.25 each.
